Literature Review
Pizza has been widely introduced to the world, and the United States is the largest consumer of it. There are differences between Italian pizza and American pizza. First of all, the sauce is different. Italians use olive oil, garlic and oregano (basil). But the American pizza uses a slow-cooked tomato sauce. There are also differences in the toppings. Italian pizzas tend to be simple, while American pizzas are more varied, often mixing up toppings and using a lot of cheese. This may be due to the fact that Americans have a diverse palate. Thus, there are diametrically opposed differences between Italy and America. But how did these differences come about?

The shape and type of pizza can be understood by learning about its history. It began in 1522 when tomatoes were introduced to Europe and added to yeasted bread. This dish was also a feast for the soldiers. Gradually, it was spread to other countries by soldiers and others. In 1905, the first pizza shop opened in New York City, USA. The toppings were tomatoes and sliced mozzarella cheese. It is still a simple pizza. In 1943, the deep-bottomed pizza spread to Chicago. It was called the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. It is shaped like a quiche and filled with many ingredients. In 1950, Americans began to take notice of pizza. Celebrities from Italy, Frank Sinatra and Joe DiMaggio, ate it. Also. The famous singer Dean Martin included pizza in the lyrics of his songs. In 1960, America’s obsession with convenience of hot and fresh pizzas helped American families, who were too busy. This history leads us to the present. You can see that Italian pizza has a strong relationship with the United States.

Conclusion
Now, pizza is spreading not only in Italy, the home of pizza, but also in other countries such as the United States. Pizza has changed shape throughout history. It was created about 500 years ago and was introduced by celebrities and others. It started out simple with just tomatoes, then in Italy, olive oil and garlic were added, and in the United States, cheese was added, and so on. Italian pizzas are characterized by simple tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. You can see that these pizzas have a strong American influence and are not the sole force behind Italy.
