Introduction

Norway is a beautiful and popular place for seeing the aurora. Also, everyone is able to enjoy various activities. It seems the fantastic place, but the aurora is produced by a complex and scientific cause. In Alaska or another northern Europe, the aurora is famous too. However, in Norway, there are the Sami people. It is not an exaggeration to say that their societies are built by the aurora. So, the aurora is special for these people. The aim of this research is to explore the environmental conditions that make beautiful aurora.

Literature review

Between late September and late March, northern Norway is covered in darkness from early afternoon to late morning. And the aurora frequently appears in the sky at deep fjords and steep mountains. There are the most beautiful places to see the aurora, and there are the most comfortable places to see the aurora, too. That means in northern Norway, there are amazing museums, cozy fishing villages, and vast tranquil spaces without any kinds of light pollution. Therefore, people are able to join various activities with the beautiful aurora.

“The aurora is caused by magic!” you probably want to believe like that, however that has complex and scientific reason. It may be difficult to understand, but it is interesting and mysterious. The cause of the occurrence of the aurora is the energy that comes from the sun something called the “solar wind”. The solar wind drifts away from the sun and carries tiny particles called “protons” and “electrons”. These particles are some of the tiny building that make up most of the stuff in the universe. When the solar wind is the strong, the aurora will flow on the dark sky. The colors are pink, blue, green and so on. It is like magic.

The aurora is caused by scientific reason, but in the past, Sami people [indigenous peoples of northern Sweden, Finland, Russia, and Norway] didn’t believe that it is scientific. They fear that if it lights, the aurora will carry them away even cut off their heads. Of cause, the thoughts are different depending on the place and person. For example, some people said the aurora are fire foxes, some people said scales of giant schools herring, and some people said breath of brave who died in combat. Whichever, the aurora gave big power and meaning to the people of people’s imaginative and funny personality also ancient Nordic societies.

Conclusion

Recent research shows that it is the environmental conditions
that make the beautiful aurora. The aurora is made by
something called “solar wind” and also we can see when
the solar wind is strong enough. But, northern people have
spent pleasant time and have enjoyed many activities
with the aurora even though they didn’t know cause of aurora.
People’s feeling were beautiful, mysterious, and even
dangerous. Of cause, that is not different to now. That means
the aurora makes imaginative Nordic people and good Nordic societies.
