Famous Italian Food Around the World

Abstract
This research article explores the reasons how Italian foods become popular around the world. The author used 3 different websites to research the history and feature of Italian food. The author’s analysis shows that Italian food is popular around the world because they have unique features and they use local products. Also, many Italians moved to America. Pasta and pizza are popular around the world and most of people know them.

Introduction
The Italy is called “Country of gastronomy” by people all over the world. Also, Italian food such as pasta and pizza are popular and they are eaten all over the world. In fact, Italian food is labeled as “ The New Three Grand Cuisines” in the world. Also, it is considered in Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. However, Italian food is not labeled in “The Three Grand Cuisines”. But now, everyone knows about that, and we can eat anywhere, anytime. The aim of this research is to explore the reasons how pizza and pasta were made and how they become popular all over the world.

Literature Review
Italian foods shapes are unique such as pasta has stick and tubular shapes and pizza has circle form. It is considered similar to Chinese food and Indian food. How pizza and pasta were made? Marco Polo who trade various foods and tools around the world brought back the pasta to Italy from China in about 1300. The origin of pizza says it is from ancient Egypt, but it did not get through to Italy. So, Italian pizza is completely original. One of the restaurant owners in Italy baked bread and stretched it thinly because the original bread took time to bake. And then, baker “Raffaele Esposito” started to sell pizza with tomatoes and basil added on it. Most people call it “First pizza”. Italian cuisine developed on its own and took in foods from other countries.

Pasta was brought back from China, but it is not similar to Chinese food such as ramen noodles. It is not similar to other countries’ food culture. However, most of people do not know what the big different points are and why difference was made. Do you know Italian food feature? As stated in the above paragraph, the tomatoes and basil were added to pizza. Because, Italian summer is usually hot and dry, so tomatoes and basil grow fast and easy. Also, pizza usually has cheese on it. The cheese raw material is milk that comes  from buffalo. Buffaloes prefer Italian climate too. It means Italian food pizza uses local vegetables, meat and cheese, so it is fresh and cheap. So, it is not similar to other countries’ food. The pasta usually uses these materials because of these reasons. So, Italian food usually uses tomatoes, other plants and animals.

As mentioned above, most of people know “pizza” and “pasta” and we can eat them around world. Do you know why they become popular around the world and how they spread to the world? In the 20th century, many Italians moved to America. And a city was built for Italians in New York. In that city, an Italian restaurant chef opened a pizza shop for Italians. In addition, it had a lot of ingredient on it and looks delicious, so many Americans came to the shop. It is big, cheap and get a full stomach enough. So, it became very popular very quickly around the world. Pasta spread around the world the same way as pizza. But the reason why it became popular is a little different. Pasta is unique and it can be combined with any sauce. It has many variations and it can kept for a long time. So, people have been using it a lot more. When Italians moved to America, pizza and pasta became popular because pizza is cheap and big and pasta is very useful and it can be cooked in different ways with various taste.

Conclusion
Recent research on famous Italian food around the world has an understanding how Italian food was made and how they become popular around the world. Current findings suggest that Italian food has unique features and it is the reason why Italian food has become popular around the world. Marco Polo brought back pasta from China in about 1300. But it is not similar to “ramen” because Italian used local ingredients such as tomato, basil, olive and buffalo’s cheese. So, pasta become unique and delicious food. Pizza was first made by one of the restaurant owners in Italy. He baked the bread and stretched it thinly because the original bread took time to bake. And then, baker “Raffaele Esposito” started to sell pizza with tomatoes and basil added to it. It’s big and cheap, so it became very popular quickly. As stated by S. Lock (2020) one of the famous pizza shop’s total revenue for fiscal year 2019 is 3.7 billion dollars!! As you can see from these numbers, pizza is popular around the world. Pasta is from China but it evolved in Italy. Pizza is born in Italy. Both added local ingredients to them. Many Italians moved to America and then it has popular around the world.
